Frequently asked questions
A weightlifting belt gives your trunk something to brace against. You push out into the belt, pressure rises through the midsection, and the spine is better supported under load. It does not do the work for you, and it is not a substitute for learning to brace without one.
Reyllen belts are 4 inches deep, which suits squatting, pressing and Olympic lifts where a wider powerlifting belt fouls the ribs or hips. The core is EVA foam, so the belt holds its shape without the break in period stiff leather needs. Closure is hook and loop with a self locking buckle, so you can adjust tension between lifts rather than committing to a fixed notch.
Use it for heavy singles and top sets. Leave it off for warm ups and metcons where you are moving quickly between movements.
